The Way Ahead Club - Youth Group

St. Serf’s Church supports a much needed community venture in the hall on a Friday evening during term time. The Way Ahead Club meets from 6 to 7.30. Here the 30 to 40 young people have their own space to spend time together in a safe environment. The happy, friendly atmosphere encourages the young ones to learn to share and help each other. There is no hitting or bullying allowed, and they take turns to play for a quarter of an hour on the computer games – usually a football match. The group ranges from age 6-11years with 5/6 helpers who sell juice and sweets.
The adults interact with the youngsters as they enjoy the various activities available, including snooker, table football, video games, and building blocks. At the end they all come together to share a quiet time where they can ask for specific prayer for someone who is ill or needing help. Part of their remit is to encourage the children to help others and see the need of those less fortunate than themselves. This year they donated £300 to Chitra Karki in Nepal to help provide tents and water to the local community after the earthquake. This was part of his New Life Church’s outreach to help those who had lost everything.
