Jimmy Martin - 50 Years An Elder of The Church Of Scotland

posted 7 Jun 2015, 13:47 by St.Serfs Tullibody-Clacks
Jimmy Martin, an Elder of St Serf's Church Tullibody, was born in the town of
Lwów in Eastern Poland. He travelled to Scotland when he was 17 years of age and subsequently met and married Agnes, set up home in Cowie and worked in the coal mining industry. Jimmy joined Cowie Parish Church where he was ordained as an Elder on the 14th June 1965.

Jimmy and Agnes moved to Yorkshire however they were unsettled there and returned to Scotland to live in Dunfermline. Jimmy became involved in church life in Dunfermline and continued his church Eldership there before moving to Tullibody during the 1980's where he was welcomed into the Kirk Session at St Serf's Church on the 19th May 1991.

Jimmy and Agnes had two daughters; Anna and Kathleen.  Jimmy has four grandchildren, Martin and Lisa, and Simon and Christopher, and also seven great grandchildren.

Sadly, Jimmy's wife Agnes passed away in 2013 and his daughter Kathleen passed away as recently as Easter Sunday this year.

Jimmy has been retired for many years and still attends Sunday morning worship at St Serf's on a very regular basis. He enjoys his days of relaxation, his happy memories and the devoted love of his very close family.
