Heart and Soul 2015

A wonderful day was enjoyed by all from St Serf's who attended this year's Heart and Soul. 18 people from St Serf's went to the event.

Everyone who went to the event wanted to take part in the challenge we had set ourselves of looking for a minister. This was very exciting to me. I did not want anyone not to feel left out, I was worried
this would happen if the ‘committee’ went off to do their work, however as individuals
and small groups we started to make our way round the event. After only a few steps we bumped into Mr and Mrs Porter (Jean (Clark) and Colin). Then we bumped into Rev and Rev Brown (John and Kay). We also bumped into friends we had met at other church events, guild meetings as well as recognising some faces but not quiet sure of names.
I even bumped into friends I had not seen since my time in Berlin 20 years ago. God lifted our spirits in many ways that day.

There was something for everyone. Activities outside and in tents for the youngsters, children’s musical activities, a play park, café and lots of seats. A traditional Salvation Army band played very uplifting music, bands and choirs led praise on the stage.

There were lots of churches and organisations ready to speak with you about the work God had lead them to do. Mixing that with the chance to fellowship with friends old and new it was a wonderful experience.

The Nominating committee had planned to distribute leaflets to both those who looked like ministers or those who might have a friend who was a minister. We were in the right place as this was a celebration of the life of the church. We thought it was a novel idea. Well there was another three churches who had had the same novel idea. Some even had t-shirts saying ‘Minister Wanted’. The four groups spoke and wished God’s blessings in their individual search. Maybe next year we will all meet up again with our new ministers leading the way.

Now we have to wait on God and pray that the person He wants to lead our church hears his call.
