Called aside,   from the busy working of your daily life

            From the world’s ceaseless stir of care and strife;

into a sanctuary, and stillness, with Your Son, our Guide.

Called aside;- perhaps with heavy heart,  soiled life,   or eyes dim;

            And yet, not alone when we are called with Him,

and heard His voice, in sweet accents say;-

“ Child, wilt thou not with me, one hour stay?”

Called aside;- in hidden paths with Christ thy Lord to tread;

            Deeper to drink at His sweet fountain-head.;

Closer in fellowship with him to roam,

nearer perhaps, to feel your heavenly home.

Called aside;- He, the bread of Life,….. He, the royal Wine;

            And from His lips, inviting words…” Come, Dine.”

For you, in your hour of dark distress,

            From Christ……. This sweet token of tenderness.

Called aside;- We thank You for this refreshment given.

            Royal Promise,   Royal Son, to earth, from heaven;

We thank the Jesus, Saviour, friend and Son Divine;

Being called aside to You is joy sublime.

Called aside;- too soon we’ll rise and mend our way,

To work, witness and to pray;

Yet the joy we share… we cannot hide;-

            It stems from here;- We are called aside.
