WERE YOU THERE?
Watch!!! You may give away your age.!!!
Glasgow Kelvin Hall 21st March to 30th
April,1955;- Ibrox , Friday night 50,000
Saturday Hampden 100,000 as big a crowd as any
international.
London broke the ice and Scotland swam in a warmer current.
Allegedly
shots of brandy were given to any who fainted in the crowd.
Grady Wilson, one of Graham’s team is adamant that he saw
one lady faint three times.
Legend, myth or truth…. Who knows.? One thing is sure for
certain. Many thousands were drinking deeply from the Holy Spirit on that
wonderful occasion.
Perhaps no
other single factor played such an important part, and had such a profound
impact on the spiritual life of Scotland for many years as the Billy Graham
All Scotland Crusade.
Many who
responded to the gospel challenge later went on to become ministers in the
church. They in turn touched many thousands of more lives.
That first
generation of ministers is now dying out. Scotland is fervently praying for
such a new infusion to the ministry.
Again via
Live-links thousands more lives were again touched.
What was
the reason for spirit filled messages?
What lay behind such convicted lives.
Surely
the centrality of the Cross of Jesus Christ, backed by the authority of the
Scriptures.
People were made to face up to the hurt and offence to a
Holy God, by our disobedience and sins. But they were also reassured that God is a forgiving God, and Jesus is a
wondrous Saviour.
That’s why
this morning, surrounding the viewing of the film we will sing Just as I am,
Blessed assurance, and Who can cheer the heart like Jesus.
That
message still needs to be heard in a very liberal, God-neglecting, Scotland
today.
WAS YOUR LIFE TOUCHED AND CHANGED FOREVER?
“BEING A CHRISTIAN IS MORE THAN JUST AN INSTANTANEOUS
CONVERSION - IT IS A DAILY PROCESS WHEREBY YOU GROW TO BE MORE
AND MORE LIKE CHRIST.”
(Rev William Izett)
