Lyrics from two different songs are going through my head..
They have both to with being on a journey.
How many roads must a man walk down Before you can call him a man?
I suppose the writer is asking”Will humanity ever learn sense?”
Will we ever journey in fellowship with God?

The second song is more of a familiar Scots love song.
On her travels a young girl asks a lad if he can tell her the road and the miles to Dundee.
The fellow does not give an exact answer;- what he does instead is to accompany her safely on the journey
“But if you’ll permit me, tae gang a wee bit-tie,
I’ll show ye the road, and the miles to Dundee”

The Bob Dylan song goes on to ask,
Yes, how many years can a mountain exist, Before it's washed to the sea?
Today we are studing some aspects of The Sermon on the Mount.
Jesus is inviting us to travel on a journey with Him .
Probably under His breath, He is asking the same poignant question;-
“Will we ever learn ?”
Jesus goes on give sound advise for righteous living.
With Jesus, it is not simply “Do as I tell you”
It is a matter of “I know how difficult the journey of life can be. I know the varying factors that make things difficult.
Let me walk beside you. Hold my hand, Put your steps in my footprints.
Let me wrap you in my plaidie.”
Although Dylon asks pertinent questions, we are still left with doubts.
“The answer my friend, is blowin’ in the wind.”
    Jesus is much more positive.
Follow, and adopt, those “BEAUTIFUL ATTITUDES of mine and you will be blessed indeed.
(Rev. William Izett)
