The Clock is my Dictator

The clock is my dictator, I shall not rest.
It makes me lie down only when exhausted.
It leads me into deep depression.
It hounds my soul. It leads me in circles of frenzy, for activities sake.
Even though I run frantically from task to task, I will never get it all done,
For my ideal is with me.
Deadlines and my need for approval, they drive me.
They demand performance from me, beyond the limits of my schedule.
They anoint my head with migraines,
 My in-basket overflows.
Surely fatigue and time pressures shall follow me
All the days of my life.
And I will dwell in the bonds of frustration forever

Resentment can be a very strong emotion that can completely take over our life. When someone seems to get a better deal than us, we can let it eat away at us until nothing will satisfy us. We want our revenge, and we want it now! Even having to wait to get what we crave can put us in an extremely foul mood. How many people are not at all amused when someone sits in "their seat" in church. People can lose their temper over the most innocuous slights.
Jesus tells his followers to seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, then all the other things will be added to us.
Let us see if we really can seek the Kingdom of God and his righteousness. If we do, then perhaps we will forget about all the petty injustices that take up far too much of our time, and we can really get down to giving our lives in active service as we do all we can to serve God and care for his people.
